The Denton Flyer

Went on the train this morning from Denton and a very kind gentleman who remains anonamous donated five pounds to our funds i thank him very much. Once again there were about twenty to thirty passengers on board and it’s the same every week our train seems to be getting very popular thanks mainly to our member David Ferguson who when he’s on the train gives out leaflets to everybody on board keep up the good work Dave

  1. Has anyone out there got any decent pictures of Denton Station in its heyday, or the goods yard and signal box? I used to more or less live there in the 60’s, it was my starting point for all my trainspotting trips – Crewe, Shrewsbury, Birmingham from Stockport, Doncaster, Sheffield, Retford from Guide Bridge and York , Leeds from Stalybridge.
Great days. I remember well the Fowler 2-6-4 tank pulling 2 coaches and running round at Stalybridge for the return journey.
I’ve got one or two pictures taken at that time, but they;re not very good.
